Criteria

An Astounding Team

The founding team is a major factor in our decision-making process. We want to know how well you work together, how resourceful you are, how innovative you are, and how quickly you can make decisions and move through obstacles with conviction.

Seed-Stage Companies

We invest in startup companies at the Seed funding rounds. We feel that this is where we can add the most value.

Even if you feel like you aren’t ready to raise capital yet, it’s never too early to start the conversation.

Ability to Demonstrate Traction

At the seed stage, we want to know that you have a minimum viable product (MVP), you have demonstrated product-market fit, and have identified a go-to-market strategy.

You may even have some traction in the form of sales and/or users, and you have started assembling an all-star management team.

Sector Flexibility

Although we may occasionally color outside the lines, we tend to focus on Technology, Consumer, and Healthtech.

Large Markets

We fund companies that have the potential for massive growth. We want to know if the startup will be able to serve a large, multi-billion dollar total addressable market (TAM).

Geographic Reach

Although we are based in Boston, we invest across the United States.

Process

When you are a founder, it’s tough having to wait for anything. We get it. That’s why we try to be as mindful of your time as possible.

 

Here is our application and funding process:

  1. Get in Touch  – Click the next tab to Apply Online, or Contact Us if you have any questions.
  2. Discovery Call – Based on your application submission, if the company looks interesting to us, a member of our VC Firm will set up a time to speak with you to learn more about your company and see if your startup is a fit for our portfolio.
  3. Investment Committee Review – Upon passing the initial discovery call, we will schedule a call with some of our Investment Committee members to take a deeper look into your business and ask you some follow-up questions. After this call, we will make a determination on whether or not we want to move forward.
  4. Term Sheet and Due Diligence – If you made it here, congratulations! We will put together a term sheet for our investment, subject to a period of due diligence.
  5. Funding – If you have been funded, we will welcome you as one of our portfolio companies and begin working with you on the next phase of your business.
